Kendriya Vidyalaya BSF Chakur
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has established a Vidyalaya in Chakur, District Latur, which commenced operations on 18th August 2010. Mr. V.R. Kattimani, the Vice-Principal from KV ONGC, Panvel, was appointed by the KVS Regional Office to lead the school initially, utilizing contractual teachers selected from the local community. Subsequently, Principal Dr. M.R. Edward was appointed by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Headquarters, New Delhi.
The school operated smoothly, and in 2016, Mr. G.P.D. Christy joined as the Principal. Following the completion of a new school building in 2021, the school expanded into a double-section institution. On 30th September 2023, Mr. Harish Bhaskroy Katariya took charge as the new Principal, bringing the school to new heights.

Shri. Vineet Kumar, Inspector General BSF Chakur, is the Chairman of the Vidyalaya Management Committee.
About Chakur
Chakur is a small village that has acquired the status of a taluka and is still in the stage of development. It has a population of nearly thirty thousand people, with no major infrastructure or buildings available. It retains its village charm, with outskirts surrounded by green fields and plantations of pulses. Chakur is the hometown of Hon. Former Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Shri. Shivraj Patil Chakurkar.
How to Reach Chakur
Chakur can be reached from:
- Mumbai/Pune by Latur Express (2100 hrs from CST Mumbai, arriving at 0630 hrs in Latur) and then by auto, private jeep, or car (40 km from Latur)
- Hyderabad via trains to Secunderabad/Shirdi or Hyderabad-Pune Express, getting off at Latur Road Railway Station (5 km from Chakur)
- Nanded by state transport bus plying between Nanded and Latur (via Chakur)
Kendriya Vidyalaya BSF Chakur
The school is located 5 km from Chakur town, near the BSF Chakur Gate, within the BSF camp. Currently, classes range from Balwatika-3 to XII (Science). The Vidyalaya is sponsored by the Border Security Force (Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India), which provided 7.5 acres of land for the permanent building. The site is surrounded by mountains and forest trees, frequented by peacocks and seasonal migratory birds.
