About KV BSF Chakur

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has decided to open this Vidyalaya in chakur, District: Latur. It came in to operation on the 18th August 2010. Mr VR Kattimani, Vice – Principal from KV, ONGC, Panvel  was posted by KVS Regional office , he began the school and the school started functioning normally, with contractual teachers selected from the local population. The present principal Dr. M.R.Edward was posted by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Head quarters vide KVS order no. F.No. 7-8/2010 – KVS(Estt – I) dated 13/10/2010 and joined the Vidyalaya on the 27th October 2010.
Chakur is a small village which has acquired the status of a taluka recently and is still in the stage of development. This village have a population of nearly twenty thousand people, with no major infrastructure, major buildings available. It looks like a village even now with its outskirts greenish with fields having plantations of pulses. It is the home town of Hon. Governor of Punjab Shri. Shivraj Patil Chakurkar.
Chakur can be reached from Mumbai /Pune by Latur Express that leaves CST Mumbai in the night at 2100hrs and it reaches Latur at 0630hrs. from where one can take a Auto or a private jeep or car ( as taxis are not available) and come down to chakur which is 40 kilometers from Latur. Or else one can take a auto or car and reach state transport bus stand which is about 8 kilometers from Latur station and then reach Latur. All buses going to Ahmedpur, Nanded goes via chakur and there is a bus every hour till in the evening.
Chakur can also be reached Via Hyderabad from where we have Trains going to secundrebad to shirdi, and Hyderabad - Pune express which goes via Latur Road Railway station, from where one can reach Chakur by and auto or bus. Chakur is 5 kilometers from Latur Road railway station. both trains reach Latur Road railway station at very odd time in the night.
Chakur can also be reached via Nanded by boarding a state transport bus plying between Nanded and Latur which goes via Chakur.
Kendriya Vidyalaya is another 5 km. from chakur town. There is no means of transport available except the Auto, which charge about Rs.100/- to Rs. 120/- the school is located mid way on the way to BSF training center which is about 12 kms from Chakur town.
School is located in the tin shed presently and it is likely to be shifted to an improvised temporary building which is under construction near the BSF camp. It is likely to be completed by the end of January 2011. And the school will be shifting by February 2011.  Presently we have classes I to V and gradually the Vidyalaya will have its natural growth.
 The Vidyalaya is sponsored by the Border Security Force which is under the Ministry of Home Affair, Government of India. They have provided about 7.5 acres of land on which the temporary tin shed is located. The site provided is in a valley surrounded by mountains covered by forest trees. A beautiful hillock and the school premises is frequented by our National bird “PEACOCK” in the morning and in the evening, apart from that it is a hub for various seasonal  migratory birds. We intend to make a detailed study of this avian fauna which visit this premise later.
